Michael Blume, MS, SCCC
CSCCa Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach
CrossFit Level 1 Certified
I am a new member of the athletic performance staff here at NIFS. I am returning to Indiana after spending 4 years at the United States Military Academy at West Point (Army). At Army, I was an assistant strength and conditioning coach in charge of implementing sport specific strength and conditioning for baseball, softball, wrestling, men's & women's soccer, golf and sprint football, while also assisting with football. Prior to West Point, I finished up my Master's Degree in Kinesiology at Indiana University, where I also served as a strength and conditioning assistant coach for several varsity sports. I am a native of Fort Wayne, Indiana, but now reside on the north side in Fishers with my wife Shaleen.
Personal Training Philosophy:
Developing a healthy lifestyle through regular exercise and sound dietary choices is a daunting task for many individuals. My role as your personal trainer is to help remove the overwhelming aspects of a fitness regimen so that it becomes an approachable and attainable undertaking. I have extensive experience working with individuals of many different levels of ability, but I specialize in athletics and those who want to build upon their athletic edge. If you are looking to get out of your old fitness routine, or want a higher intensity of a workout, I combine my experience with both knowledge in exercise science, as well as a creative approach in general, to develop time efficient and productive high intensities that match your goals and ambitions. You supply the desire and commitment. I supply the methods, means and motivation.

kristen davis, BA, ACSM HFS
ACSM Health Fitness Specialist
AFPA Pre/Post Natal Exercise Specialist
BOSU Instructor
Kristen graduated from Hanover College in May of 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Exercise Science. At Hanover, she worked as a personal trainer and participated in intramural sports where she helped her team win the basketball championship two years in a row. Currently, Kristen enjoys running and is looking forward to participating in many races over the next few years.
Kristen's specialty is working with people. She likes to interact with our members and find out what makes them tick. She gets excited when she sees them achieving their fitness goals and knows she has helped them to change their lifestyle. Kristen is energetic and would love to help you feel and look better. While at NIFS, Kristen has helped several weight loss members lose over 80 pounds total. Kristen also teaches several BOSU Conditioning classes at NIFS. Thanks to BOSU training, she feels stronger, more stable and more confident in her running. Hop in a class if there is an open ball and find out what BOSU can do for you; the instructors love to see new faces!
After being approached by pregnant women at NIFS, Kristen decided to learn more about exercise and pregnancy and became an American Fitness Professionals and Associates (AFPA) certified Pre/Post Natal Exercise Specialist. This is a highly specialized field and there are only a few people in the Indianapolis area certified to train Pre/Post Natal women. Some of the benefits of exercise for pre/post natal clients are more energy during pregnancy, reduced stress and anxiety, quicker recovery from birth, fewer complications in pregnancy, shorter labor time and increased self esteem. Women who exercised prior to conception, as well as women without an exercise plan in place will benefit from a one-on-one exercise session with Kristen. Any new mother anxious to rebound from giving birth will also benefit from specialized exercises. Kristen recognizes this need and has the knowledge, experience and motivational skills to help you have a safe and healthy pregnancy, delivery and recovery.
Specialties:
- Exercise and pregnancy
- Core strength and stability
- Weight loss management
Personal Training Philosophy:
"I believe that the trainer/client relationship is similar to that of a coach/athlete relationship. The trainer motivates the client to perform his/her best. I want to help motivate you to achieve your fitness goals."

Thomas Livengood, BS
BOSU Instructor
Thomas has been at NIFS since March 2008, spending time as a health fitness specialist, devoted to helping members achieve their fitness goals regardless of limitation or experience. "Ultimately, success is up to the individual, but, for the trainer, growth is not measured only in pounds, but in the knowledge gained, the ability to confidently and safely perform a structured workout plan, and maintain a goal-specific, sensible nutrition plan."
Thomas' undergraduate studies were split between the University of Indianapolis and the University of Southern Indiana. While at UIndy, he received two varsity letters in wrestling and built a strong foundation in physical fitness and teaching. He then graduated from USI in Evansville with a degree in Physical Education K-12 and Health and Safety. Though his career in competitive sports was fleeting, he found new passion in coaching wrestling at local wrestling clubs, helping with Habitat for Humanity and participating in intramurals and campus powerlifting competitions.
Upon graduation, he went to work at a high school in North Carolina as a physical education teacher and wrestling coach. Though teaching was his first choice, he found myself wanting to do more with people on an individual basis so he relocated back to Indiana in 2005, deciding to make the switch to personal training.
Specialties:
- Core stability and strengthening
- Versatility in workout routines and exercises
- Weight loss management
- Strength and conditioning
Personal Training Philosophy:
"I do not want to just give you a workout. I want to give you an experience every time you come to NIFS."

Tony Maloney, BS, ACSM HFS
Fitness Center Manager
ACSM Health Fitness Specialist
BOSU Instructor (trained with the inventor of the BOSU)
Tony graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Health and Safety Education from right here at IUPUI (Go Jags!!). After graduation, he went on to teach Physical Education and Health for the grade levels of K-8. During this time, he coached at both the middle school and high school levels in the sports of football, basketball, and track. Conditioning programs for different sports and fitness levels was and still is a hobby of his and he set up programs for different teams and individuals.
After teaching a group for five years, he decided to educate himself on a personal level and began training individuals at a gym. Since coming to NIFS, he has trained clients of different fitness levels, many of which have decided to stay on with him for further instruction. He has also developed and instructed the BOSU Conditioning program and is planning countless programs for the members here at NIFS. Tony was promoted to the role of Fitness Center Manager in April of 2009.
Specialties:
- Core stability/Balance training (BOSU specialist)
- Weight loss and body fat reduction
- Sport specific goal training
Personal Training Philosophy:
Tony feels he is an educator, not a mechanic. It's his obligation to give you the tools which allow you to make the specific lifestyle and activity changes to reach your goals, not to simply "fix" you. He feels very confident that when you leave a session with him, you will know not only what you did, but why. He is the youngest of six boys, all athletes and he has pursued physical goals all of his life. He would like to pass that passion on to the clients who work with him.

Chris Pozeznik, BS, CSCS®, NSCA-CPT
NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT)
After-Burn Instructor
Originally from the small town of Middlebury in northern Indiana, Chris participated in many sports growing up. A high school ACL injury sparked his interest in the field of exercise science. Sidelined from soccer with a bum knee, he was prompted to focus on lifting weights and reading up on anything and everything related to fitness. Chris continued to resistance train his upper body while undergoing physical therapy to 1) literally learn to walk again, 2) regain range of motion and strength in the injured leg. This experience taught him what it is like to sustain a major injury and how to take the necessary measures to safely get back into training shape post-rehabilitation.
Chris graduated from IUPUI with a Bachelors of Science degree in Physical Education-Emphasis in Exercise Science. During an internship at St. Vincent Sports Performance Center, Chris had the opportunity to work with athletes not only competing in various sports at the middle school and high school level, but collegiate and professional athletes as well. He then personal trained at another fitness center for nearly a year, where he enjoyed a strong rapport with clientele that included teenagers, middle-aged couples, athletes, as well as seniors.
Chris is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT) and this past year attained the CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) credential.
Personal Training Philosophy:
I firmly believe that every training session should be challenging, yet fun, have variety in the exercises performed, and produce the desired results in a safe manner. I try to make every training session a functional, full-body workout utilizing such conditioning devices as dumbbells, resistance bands, stability balls, slide board, medicine balls, kettlebells, FreeMotion machines and even the client's own body weight. My training philosophy and methods challenge my clients to go above and beyond their initial expectations.
Contact Chris at 317.274.3432 ext. 212 or email. Chris is currently offering FREE 1/2 hour introductory sessions by appointment.
