BOD POD®
NIFS brings you the latest technology in body composition assessment with the BOD POD®.
At NIFS we understand that the path to wellness relies on lifestyle decisions that are reflected in body composition. "Losing weight" is a misleading goal. The bathroom scale does not know the difference between a pound of fat and a pound of muscle. The BOD POD is a device that accurately measures the percentage of body fat and lean body mass, enabling you to track your body composition more effectively.

Aerobic Capacity (VO2) Assessment
Achieve better results in weight-loss, general fitness or athletic performance with a VO2 assessment!
With a VO2 assessment, your body's oxygen consumption can be measured directly instead of indirectly or estimated. The relation of oxygen consumption to heart rate helps to determine accurate individual target heart rate zones. This relationship differs significantly from person to person. A VO2 assesment can give you your specific target heart rate zone so you can train more efficiently whether your goal is weight loss, general fitness or improved aerobic endurance.
Follow-Up Assessments
As your VO2 is reassessed, you can objectively see improved efficiency of the heart and lungs and reset target intensities as your fitness level improves.
What to Expect During the Test
During this assessment, a comfortable breathing mask is placed over your mouth and nose while you engage in an aerobic activity. Tubes from the facemask are connected to a sensor and computer that measure the air exhaled while conducting the test. The full VO2 assessment takes approximately 60 minutes. This is a sumbax test. Maximal VO2 testing is also available.

Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR)
Discover what your body's basic caloric needs are to determine a nutrition and exercise action plan that fits your unique needs!
Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) refers to the rate in which the body uses calories needed for pumping blood through the body, inhaling and exhaling air, maintaining body temperature and various other processes necessary for life. With the New Leaf System, RMR can directly be measured and the results can be used to create personal nutrition and exercise action plans to facilitate weight loss or weight maintenance.
What to Expect
You will have a breathing mask placed over your nose and mouth, which will measure the air you exhale while you lie down in a comfortable position in a dimly lit room. Tubes from the facemask are connected to a sensor and computer that measure the air exhaled while conducting the test. For accurate results the best time for this assessment is early morning shortly after you wake up. The full RMR assessment takes approximately 1 hour.

Functional Movement Screening
A Safer Workout, A Stronger You!
Right and left side imbalances might exist in your body at very basic levels of movement. Not addressing these prior to conditioning, fitness activities, training and competition may rob your body of efficiency and increase the potential for injury. Often these issues are hidden due to the body's ability to compensate for imbalances by substituting other movement patterns. Seven screens provide data on the basic functional movements of the body.
Taking a Functional Movement Screen (FMS) will expose neuromuscular weaknesses and allow you to develop a strong, balanced body by:
- Identifying physical imbalances or weaknesses and then strengthen them with simple corrective exercises
- Improving mobility and stability
- Improving functional and athletic performance
- Reducing the potential for injury
- Improving the efficiency of how the core maintains stability and assists in transferring and generating power/stress
Screens
- Deep Squat
- Hurdle Step
- In-Line Lunge
- Shoulder Mobility
- Active Straight Leg Raise
- Trunk Stability Push-Up
- Rotational Stability
